Olympia
by Chris Bush

Set in Athens, 399BC, Olympia depicts the demise of the Ancient Greek Chorus. The major playwrights are gone, and with no more stories coming from Dionysus they must find them elsewhere, or else face the terrifying prospect of establishing their own identities. While out looking for new stories, they stumble across Socrates, a man who seems to ask the questions they need answered, and decide to dramatise his life. Though at first it's not thought to be dramatically interesting enough, when Socrates is arrested for corrupting the minds of the young it becomes a different matter, and the chorus agree to stage his trial.
Olympia is a genre-hopping play, incorporating traditional Greek elements, fast-paced verbal comedy and genuine philosophical debate, examining the nature of reality and identity in an accessible and entertaining way.
